Mysterious and unique Caldera
The volcano eruption created the caldera which is considered as the most impressive and photographed spot in Greece. It is a “bowl” about 300 meters high with reddish steep slopes that surround the volcanic islands located in the Old and New Kameni. They used to say that the Caldera hides the secret of the lost Atlantis and it was explored by Cousteau!

The prehistoric settlement discovered in Akrotiri is one of the most important archeological sites in the Aegean Sea. It seems that this settlement has been one of the most important urban centers of the Aegean. It included a large area, excellent urban planning sewer and buildings with elaborately wall paintings.
